Answering a few questions/addressing some concerns:
I'm a bit disappointed that they're only allowing three teams per school at River Falls this year - it means that a lot of our members won't be able to compete.
The reason the UWRF invite is capping schools at three teams is to allow more schools to compete. Many invitationals in other parts of the country cap a school at
two teams and UWRF has a total cap of 40 teams or so, and they don't want to have to turn schools away, as I believe a few schools were turned away last year.
I noticed on the Boyceville Invitational website that Boyceville is fielding six teams this year. Holy cow.
Yes, that is true as we have seen tremendous growth in Boyceville this year. With the MS team placing 3rd at state last year and the HS team placing 3rd again as well student interest is at an all-time high, with roughly 35% of the student body out for Science Olympiad this year. That enthusiasm, coupled with the fact that I will not cut anybody for anything other than ethics/rules violations, has resulted in the need for that many teams.
