Woah, silverheart7, you're from Gelinas?!? Can you share your team's secret to winning with me?

Haha, I'm totally kidding. But it's seriously awesome to see someone else here in Division B for NY.

Yeah! Our team doesn't really have a "secret." We all just really love what we do, and we're willing to work hard. We mostly get the events we're willing to learn, and get our friends as partners. We're dedicated and a close knit team. There's really no secret at all

So, what events are you all planning on doing? In other words, who is my competition going to be at states? I'm doing Robot Arm, MagLev, and Elastic Launch Glider for sure, maybe participating to some degree in one or two more.

Hah, competition. Alright, well Shad and I already know as you can tell from our continuous declarations. But I am aiming to get on team for Astronomy (perhaps you could tell this one from my username), Fermi Questions, Gravity Vehicle, and (someone help me since I still don't understand) Geologic Mapping. Fun set

Heh, I'm aiming for Astronomy, DyPlan, and Mag Lev right now. Anything else that might get added or dropped will come with time

MagLev...Have you done it before? If you don't mind me asking, what school are you from?
Also, yay for New York's second page...maybe we'll beat those Illinois kids this year (not).

No problem, I'm from Hicksville. The last time I did MagLev was several years back, when I was in 8th grade and it was just the car portion, no test. We need to replace the guy on it that graduated though, and I figured that I should pick it back up since I've taken physics already and have some experience in the event. Things could change, but I'm pretty sure I'm sticking with it

Hey, twototwenty, if you don't mind me asking, what school are you from? (If you don't want to answer, that's totally fine as well.)
As for my events...I'm still in B Division so I guess I won't see any of you at States (except silverheart7), but I plan to be doing Heredity, Anatomy, Metric Mastery and another fourth event that I really can't decide on yet--perhaps Sounds of Music or Food Science, though I've heard from former Sounds of Music-ers that you really don't want the event... Super excited for Heredity, I really loved the genetics unit in 7th grade science.

I go to Brighton High School (It's right near Rochester).
I can second that advice about Sounds...I had it as a freshman, and it was a terrible experience. However, if you want your team to do well, and know you are more committed than some of your teammates, by all means, go ahead and take it.
On another note, I was wondering - what happens if Monroe-Woodbury doesn't make it to states? They placed 15th in their regionals last year, so its not like it is a sure thing for them. Do they have to host states and not participate, or do they get to participate just because they are hosting it?

If they don't make it to states I don't think they could compete. Why would they?
Also, I don't think anyone will be beating the IL forum this year considering that we are the second largest forum, and they still have almost double our posts, they've already gotten to the 3rd page. I think we can decidedly say that if there was a competition for most state forum posts IL would win. Unless you all just feel like speculating or something, but considering that school is tomorrow, and I still have some things to do myself...
