I'm sort of turned off from this event just from writing a tryout test for it... sorry to you guys who like it

So...has anyone found valuable websites about the hydrosphere? Right now, all I have is Wikipedia, which isn't a bad source, but I would like to study from something else OTHER than that.

Textbooks are also ok, except for the fact that I don't want to buy them...

I think CCRS and NASA may both have sections that touch on the hydrosphere, though they might be somewhat small.

Look on the NASA tutorial, and it's right there.

Section 14: The Water Planet - Meteorological, Oceanographic and Hydrologic Applications of Remote Sensing

I think I know a section I'll be studying a bit.

the NASA website really helps alot, I used it mainly for satellites though. I found a lot of the applications of remote sensing in a textbook, which I forgot the name of.

Just wondering, does anybody know if hydrosphere has ever been the topic for Remote Sensing, or is it new this year?

From what I remember, the past three years have been human impact/forest stuffs, and before that, Mars.

Hi all!

Wow... Hydrospheric Remote Sensing? They are getting creative with RS topics. If anyone needs any help, feel free to ask!

To give you all a jump start on this, I would suggest exploring the multitudes of hydrospheric-related services out there such as tides/surges, lakes and river gauges, and doppler radar for the precipitation side.

Off of the top of my head, I could imagine a few great test topics such as looking at the coastal and inland areas of Louisiana before and after Hurricane Katrina, the Japanese coast before and after the tsunami, looking at the recent river/lakes flooding in the Missouri River valley (focus on ND, SD, NE/IA, and MO) or Red/Saskatchewan/Assiniboine River Valleys in ND/SK/MB, and the coastal and inland areas before and after Hurricane Irene in the mid-Atlantic and northeast.

Funny, I never thought about hurricanes and tsunamis. Facepalm moment.

How much do you think meteorology will factor into potential tests? Obviously the water cycle deals a lot with the subject.
