I think it might be because you're already a member.

These links normally expire after a while, and it's been quite a bit since its initial post I believe. Doesn't work for me though :(

Hopefully a new one works.

Many thanks.

I have posted a new video on building a max-dimension box per the 2025 Heli rules, using a Hobby Lobby $9 foam board: https://youtu.be/zqZR43s1SEs

Hello!
This question is regarding the box the helicopter must fit into. The rules say, "...no change in chord, span, length, or total lifting area can occur after removing the helicopter from its box and throughout the flight itself." Our top and bottom rotors rotate freely but slide about an inch in and out on the motor hooks (music wire). Does this mean that the rotors have to be pulled all the way out to full length to fit in the box or can they be pushed in? In other words, the rotors slide out a little on each side along the wire hooks. If the helicopter doesn't fit in the box with the rotors fully extended, will we be disqualified? Not sure if this question is easy to understand. :(

Here is a resource that is older, but still very relevant. It includes:
  • A plan for a x-rotor heli, very simple and low cost
  • Trimming guidance
  • Detailed build instructions, with lots of great ideas
  • Rubber winding details
  • Source information (may be dated)
This should be a must-read!
