Do people at your school know youre in science olympiad?

We... haven't been on the news. But we did go to a school board thing, where we got to shake the superintendent's hand. It was a tremendous honor.

2 years ago, we were invited to meet the governor and take pics and the first thing the governor asks after we tell him were the science olympiad state champs is "Now what is science olympiad?"

Eh just about everyone in the school knows who is in Sci Oly at my school, it is expected tho since I go to a small school, only about 300 students. The school does announce competition results when we do good.

Most people at our school know what Science Olympiad is, mostly due to the fact that our team acted somewhat deranged in the weeks immediately preceding the state tournament. It paid off, though. It also helps that our coaches, who are teachers, love to talk about Science Olympiad in front of their classes. People know how much effort we put into it. But unfortunately, our obsession makes Science Olympiad appear like a sort of cult.

I know, right?

People here know if you are in SciOly or not, because some people, like me, tell people, and I make a point of it to my parents. My parents didn't even know I was in until I told them though. Okay back to the topic.

People know, but it's not like we are really members of the "School Society" or anything. Most of us stick to ourselves [as in with the other members] rather than talk to other people. That "most of us" doesn't include me though. XDD

We get *enough* publicity, but nowhere near as much as, say, our football team (hey, they go to state all the time, so I'm not complaining). Before our last two competitions someone stuck a bunch of signs up next to our coach's classroom, but I'm still not sure if it was our coach or someone else >_>

I have to sort of agree with Z.... My school gets enough publicity, I mean, a lot of people know I'm in Science Olympiad, but they don't know what it even is (just that it's some club that competes with other schools). But we get mentioned on the announcements after each competition and before and after every tournament.... I think we got a little mention in a newspaper once as the only middle school in our district to go to State, but I'm still trying to get over the fact that we didn't even get mentioned by our principal on our district newsletter. Instead, I think he talked about kids in AVID and something about parent involvement. But other than that, I think that we get fairly enough publicity, although we might try to make the club a lot more well-known next year. After State, I think my coach went home and made a sign that said "Go Science Olympiad!" or something like that, and she stationed it right outside her classroom door, so it was pretty hard not to notice. >.<

It's kinda the same here, but we get more publicity than AVID.
