The person the clue could be referring to might be H. G. Wells (Many machines that he described in his novels were invented later.).

On a side note, what was the correct solution to the clue to get to be an officer.

Heck, lots of writers foreshadowed stuff in their books. Stephen King's Running Man, which I just finished reading, foreshadowed reality TV, for example. The one thing I find ironic? Not one foreshadowed the internet, one of the biggest inventions of our age. Go figure.

I have a hunch that the sassy is aubrey....not entirely sure why though....

As far as foreshadowing....orwell? He predicted what the world would look like later, it didn't necessarily happen but he did try to issue a warning of sorts.

I think the important thing is to see who wrote something for a "classic movie."

Too broad of a clue, I think. So many authors foreshadowed the future and wrote basis for classic movies.
