You really don't want to just force the wood into shape by giving it shear deformation, as you are then adding more internal stresses to your structure and joints. If you want it to be curved, you want the wood to be permanently that shape.

i generally agree that curved wood in towers is a bad idea. unless you are very experience and have a lot of time to build one tower. i think it would be lighter if done right but i personally would not put the time into it when a straight tower design will most likely beat you if the curved part is not done perfectly

Why are you bending the tower, for design purposes or for strength?
