Yeah, it does, but a little larger probably wouldn't hurt.

I've been on several other forums (haven't registered on any of them), and this is by far the best. I love the way it's organized, and like blue cobra said, it looks much more professional. The avatar is not what people come here for, and while it's nice to have an image to define you, it should not distract from what counts: what is in your posts. (And hopefully those are worthwhile, too).

This battle has been fought and lost many a-times before, and there's nothing to say we're going to win now. Although I wouldn't mind maybe just a tad bit larger, and maybe slightly larger file sizes, it's not worth a big argument.

Uh no it hasn't, I believe I was the first to bring it up in the Site Suggestions thread a few months ago, and DS didn't put it down, he just said he'd think about it (yes a virtual no, but "lost" is a bit of a stretch). One time is not "many a-times".

Zyzzyva, moving up the size and file size limits won't make the forum more distracting as long as they're up to reasonable limits (my preference would be 100x100, 12kb or something like that), and no they're not the reason anyone comes here (they're not the reason anyone goes to any forum) but thats no reason we shouldn't have them larger.

Larger avatars aren't necessary. I frankly don't know why other people are complaining.

I agree with RandomPerson. I had a great raptor picture to use for an avatar, but it got too small and became mush.

Was it a picture of raptor Jesus? Yeah, but same here, I had a gif of a moving bucky ball (buckminsterfullerene) that I wanted to use, then I just switched to one image instead of an animation, and then I lowered the size of the image, but it didn't look good anymore, but I guess hamsters are cool too.

I at least am not complaining about avatars being small, just 75x75 being a strange constraint (I usually see it as 80x80, meaning all the avatars I've built up over the years have to be readjusted), and since it is a relatively easy thing to do, why shouldn't we make it at least slightly larger.
