How exactly did you take a lot of weight of the rotor?

On the free spinning rotor, I have it attached and built similarly to an Ikara Propeller. With a blade attached to each end of a heavy 1/8 square balsa stick, which is attached to the wire. I had the stick that the blades are attached to, run all the way to the end of each blade. I cut the ends of the stick, so the blades are only attached near the center, and most of the blade furthest from the center hangs "free". Was that understandable?

yes, that can happen sometimes.
Are the blades solid balsa or are they covered?

Is the weight limit on the rubber most likely going to be 2 grams or 1.5 grams?

i found that my rubber often bunches up in certain areas and causes the whole helicopter to just stop, even
when there are still many winds left.

is this a common problem? are there specific ways to prevent this?....
it may be important to note that i have not been able to get my hands on the competition rubbers yet....i'm just
using one that's already in a band....

Several things to prevent bunching.

Make the hook to hook distance longer. Shorter distances encourage bunching. Doesn't need to be longer than relaxed loop, but doesn't need to be shorter either.

Make sure the hooks are spaced away from the motor stick. When stretched between the hooks, the rubber should be separated from the stick by 1/4 inch or so.

Lubricate and stretch wind off the copter to even out the knots. Winding on the helicopter tends to cause bunching.

Competition rubber vs rubber bands won't affect bunching, it will affect energy storage hugely, get some competition rubber if you can.
