My ornithology partner and I had the same lunch time, and lunch is outside for us, so we would freak out everytime we saw a bird or heard one. And also the week of states she brought her itouch and we listened to the songs constantly... we made everyone listen to the american bittern cuz we thought it was so funny. We were honestly obsessed, and still are (our nicknames for each other are Hooded Merganser and Painted Bunting) :D Gotta love those birdies!
2011 Events: Regionals- Fossils 1st, Ornithology 2nd, Remote Sensing 1st, Food Science (NC) 3rd

Brother: We are learning about coordinate grids in math class.
Me: Oh, that's like the beginning of life!!

That reminds me of the time when the two Ornithology guys on my team somehow found a bird book that plays calls, and they played random bird calls almost nonstop on the (5 AM) bus to States. I think the only thing stopping most people from snatching the bird book and hitting them over the head with it was the fact that we wanted to do well in Ornithology.

Haha! That sounds like us! I know people were getting annoyed with us by the end of States. We had gone to a bookstore the night before and completely freaked out when we found this bird guide that had way more information than the one we had... we were calculating to see if maybe we could tab the whole thing in one night.

SO is helping me pay for college. :o I am in an Outdoor Leadership program. Nothing to do with SO, right? Well, when I am on a backpacking trip in the middle of the mountains, I can look up and identify constellations because of my time in SO. This isn't just for my enjoyment, because I can also teach others about them. I have been involved/consulted in a couple real bridge building scenarios. Nothing really major, just foot bridges. But I understand how bridges work and can offer basic advice.
