Same
What if build results were just sent in privately? An actual video doesn't have to be shown - if anyone wants to cheat let them, it doesn't get them anywhere. (Cause given the online nature cheating on study events is ridiculously easy, so we just have to trust the competitor's integrity - the same should be done for builds)

Also, if you want I can write an Dynamic Planet Oceanographic Study test

If anyone wants to still do builds, I'm down to have you guys send the builds to me and I can calculate the scores. (I have no reason to share the designs lol so no worries about sharing it to me)

The whole thing is basically going to be on honor system (it's to see how you would have done at states), and is so ridiculously easy to cheat in I'm not going to bother with anything crazy. I would suggest teams test their devices "live" (eg over discord, skype, rtsp...) for a proctor so there's only one run being performed.

Additionally, I think it would be better if we required teams to use the device they would have used for States (eg "Devices must have been constructed before March 14th, 2020"), which allows us to avoid copying the SO parameters entirely.

I can also do this as I'm not competing anymore. Have Div D people be the ES's and handle all grading and data regarding builds. Then we hold an award ceremony or something in discord lol.

At the beginning clearly show that the plane meets specs (measure the prop, wings, etc. show the weight on a scale), have no cuts, and clearly show the winding and launching process of both flights. I guess it'd be difficult to regulate ceiling height and whatnot but iirc that's how the AMA ran a virtual competition based around their Alpha plane kit a year or two ago.

It could have a line or something where you could indicate if you want your video publicly shown. That way, there could be a compilation of "public" builds that gets released for those that're interested, but you can still submit your device without having your secrets shown to the general public.

I am currently not in a state with a tournament affected by the virus, but my team participated in an online tournament because an invitational was canceled because of snow. I can look into how some of the logistical stuff was handled in that case.

I'd be interested in hearing how this happened, since I was under the impression that those were against SOInc policy. I'd love to have some sort of sanctioning or permission to use the rules but still avoid the liability problem.

This particular tournament was canceled the day before the competition. I think they got permission from SO because they didn't want the tests to go to waste, though I don't know
