For anything Science Olympiad-related that might not fall under a specific event or competition.

I, for one, would be very willing to help contribute to this, but I would probably need an easier way to add results (i.e. little to no coding).
"Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Matthew 5:11-12

I have no regrets.

Working on a Google Sheets based method now, should live by this weekend!

The workflow to contribute will be to make a copy of a master spreadsheet, fill in the data, and post the link to the modfied spreadsheet. Then I'll download it and convert to SciolyFF using a script.

That sounds like a great idea! Thank you for doing this!

Sorry, bit of delay on the spreadsheet - - now aiming for Tuesday release.

Edit: The spreadsheet has been completed but is very much untested. If anyone wants to try it out before I put it through its trials tomorrow, here's a link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

The new input spreadsheet has been tested and should be mostly ready to go! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 1128595786
Here's a filled out example for 2011 Nats: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Decided to give it a go for the recent UT Regional - this looks really exciting and cool! Here's the link to Division C.

Thanks! So it looks like UT Regionals drops the four lowest placings (I'm assuming that's what the zeroes are), and the SciolyFF doesn't support such a scoring system yet. I've modified the input spreadsheet (and a copy of yours) to deal with this better, and will add the results to the website once I figure out a good way to represent that in SciolyFF.

Texas offers 28 events with teams choosing 23 beforehand to compete in, if I remember correctly.

That is correct. At the state tournament, TSO offers teams 28 events (23 national ones and 5 state ones) and teams choose any combination of 23 events beforehand (which is slightly different than dropping the four lowest placements regardless). At the time of our regional tournament, TSO had only released 4 of the 5 state events, so each team had to drop 4 events. Because these events are dropped in advance of the actual tournament, there are no placings for them, which is why you see a "0".

Although a fair amount of nationally competitive teams come to our tournaments, we choose to incorporate the trial event/dropping system that TSO uses so that attending teams become more comfortable with how the state tournament is run. Teams that focus on nationals (e.g. Beckendorff) can drop the state events and pretend like the TSO system doesn't exist.

Just to confirm I'm understanding what your modifications to the spreadsheet mean: in the future, should I use "LP" instead of "0" to denote a dropped event like that?

Oh okay that makes sense. Yep, use "LP" instead of "0" -- although its original meaning of "low place" doesn't really correspond to the reality, it'll be a good placeholder until better support for different scoring systems is added.

Edit:
I've added a new code "EX", standing for "exempt", which better captures the meaning I think. Use "EX" instead of "LP" or "0" for the above situation. Still working on getting support for the system in SciolyFF.
