As far as I can tell, a middle school ends in 8th grade and a Jr. high ends in 9th.

where i come from middle school is grades 5-8 but jr high is grades 7-8. we're all in the same building but theres a big difference between the 5th and 6th graders and the 7th and 8th graders. the 7th and 8th graders are considered to be in middle school and jr high school but no one around here uses the term jr high.

I dont think any districts have 4 different schools like that. Some schools have a middle school and some have a jr high. And your school is kinda weird in that elementary ends at 4th. Either you have a huge middle school and high school, or you dont have that many kids. Our high school is only 10-12 and its pretty crowded.

We have 4 elementary schools. One of them [which was mine] is very tiny. It has only 7 rooms in the entire school. Another one is also around a century old but pretty big. The other two are fairly new and big. Theres around 300-400 kids per grade. People say the reason we dont have 5th grade in elementary school is because there isnt enough room for them. My middle school is averaged size but we have a ton of people per class room. My school used to be bigger but half of it burned down. Theres 51 rooms in my middle school not counting the specialists rooms such as art, computer, health, and so on.

O.O dang that is messed up (me district is just VERY crowded in some areas and like a people desert in others so like my high school SO crowded all the middle schools that feed into it had to have half of it's students go to another high school like in my grade of 300, 100 people had to go to another school thats all the way across town 45 minute bus ride anyone?? and of corse all the regular inner cityish districts poor funding the closing of a whole middle school (which all 300 students protested about) Over crowdeing my high school was suppose to hold 2000 people not 2800 it has now) but wow you problems are alot worse them mine
SO stressed!

what do you find so messed up about my distirct? i mean yeah, my district is pretty messed up but i dont find the grade divisions that messed up. I'm sure we're not the only district that has 1-4,5-8, and 9-12. i know most districts have 5th grade in elementary but i guess that just makes us special
