How do you plan on motivating yourself to do 50 hrs of scioly in a week?
Decide to do it, and resist any urges to procrastinate.
DON'T do 50 hours per week, even if it's during break! You have other things in your life to do also
like debate!
If Science Olympiad is something that matters to you, 50 hours a week is not a problem. I loved Science Olympiad, and I cannot claim to have surpassed 20 hours a week, but I see no reason why 50 hours a week is unreasonable. It just matters what your priorities are.
If you do study more, make sure that your study time is productive. Scioly above all is completely about quality, not quantity. Don't feel pressured to create binders hundreds of pages thick, or cram notesheets with padding just because other people do so. My Rocks and Minerals notes easily fit into a half-inch binder, and a good 50% of my Remote Sensing notesheet were pictures. Make sure what you do is good and not just space-filling.
Definitely practice with your partners more. There are many tests in the Test Exchange both on the main site and on the Wiki, and you should go over many of them, preferably with a partner, while pacing yourself.
Worst comes to worst, you get cut. That's not the end of the world - just try harder, and try again. You are not defined solely by your success in Science Olympiad and you should be proud that in a time when science is unfortunately not viewed as important you worked up the courage to compete for the sake of knowledge.
