question 1 how is pentathlon under lab events???
and the questions are really broad
there really isn't a way to study you just have to hope the questions are related to the events you do
how do you guys practice for the athletic part???
i mean it isn't really athletic you have to jump rope or carry an egg on a spoon or something
both times i did it i had to jump rope b/c i was the only girl on my team that did pentathlon and boys can't really jump rope
it's really funny to watch though b/c the things they make you do are really funny to watch like i had to wear a purple easter basket on my head that was too big so it covered my eyes and i had to hold the bucket while trying to test a rock's luster and i had to jump rope with the bucket covering my eyes so i didn't know where the next station was..it was funny to watch but not doing it :|

well....its under lab events because you dont just sit down and take a test, you're up and moving doing stuff. and yes some of the stuff they come up with can be funny to watch

And 8th grade, depending on what your school happens to teach in those grades. Maybe even 6th grade for some, it could prove useful.

yeah, I think if I had learned basic physics and/or chemistry I would have done a lot better on my question. We had questions on the water cycle (ecology), and general biology, nothing fancy though.

My view on this event is that it is kind of an all-star event - you should put your best team members in it. Last year our team put in a bunch of 7th graders who had some athletic ability - they got 40th at state, which bumped the team down from 3rd place to 4th. Because of the wide range of possible topics, I would think a good strategy would be putting in your team members with the most experience and widest range of knowledge.

Well, you don't necessarily want the best of your team dedicating time. You'd want them to study harder on other events more...

Our team last year for pentathlon was 4 free people who had no events on Pentathlon's time slot. It was like a ragtag team of free people, and I think that's how it's going to work for our school again this year.

(With that ragtag team, we got 2nd at state. :D)
