The Event that "Got Away"

For anything Science Olympiad-related that might not fall under a specific event or competition.

The reason for my username :(

But seriously, Game On gets too much flak for what it was intended to be: an inquiry event meant to marginally introduce computer science into Science Olympiad and couple it with scientific concepts. No, it's not a study event where hours of work can lead to that gold medal, but look at WIDI, a similarly irrelevant event that has stayed for seemingly forever. Yes, the event is highly subjective. Yes, the event is based around a laggy piece of software built for elementary schoolers. Yet, I still enjoy dragging those blocks for fifty minutes while calling upon everything I know about snow, flowers, or Valentine's Day. Game On is great for the "mindless" challenge it provides, and it was never intended to be anything else. Game On is trash and so am I.

If the only thing you know about snow is that squirrels still need to eat when there's snow on the ground, you don't know very much about snow...

Ended. I am sorry for your loss.

For me, it was Microbe Mission. I medalled 5th at Nats, but this year, I did it once at Regionals and never did it again. Nor will I ever be able to again: it's rotating out next year into the reserve events, and I rotate out into college.

For me, it is Electric Vehicle. I would have loved to get the chance to work on that event; it seemed so fun. I won't ever get the chance to do it though, since when mousetrap's rotation is done, I will be at college.

For me, it would have to be Circuit Lab. In middle school, I let other students compete it due to a conflict with one of my other events. Unfortunately, it rotates back into the cycle next year, which is too late for me to compete.

Materials Science and Geologic Mapping. Both only became official events after I graduated from high school.

Microbe Mission. The Crime Busters team apparently had a "conflict," so they switched me with one of them. It was a real shame too because I really wanted Microbe and the kid I switched with really wanted Crime Busters. In the end, Crime Busters actually didn't have a conflict with the other kid's events.

Dynamic Planet - Oceanography (the best topic in my opinion). It conflicted with Green Gen at nats in 2016 and I couldn't do it.

I also never got to do this topic! I wanted to do it at the Montgomery Invitational but the event block conflicted...
