this kinda depends on the judge, at rustin invitational, our thing kinda bounced when it hit the receiver of the gap and they still measured it, I suppose the point is just not to have it bounce off of a wall or the base, it should be fine if it bounces on the receiving track as long as it stays on that track

We had bouncing issues when we were using hard materials for the track. Switched to a more flexible track material and the bouncing went away.
And bouncing is not allowed as part of the gap, but is fine at the end of a gap. A gap only counts of the vehicle flies unsupported for 5 horizontal cm.

Can you share what the flexible material was?

We used cardstock. It makes the track more fragile, for sure. The more it was able to move with the impact of the marble the better.

I always assumed bouncing was specifically not allowed because of this video's loophole:

Probs that, but also because that loophole wasnt patched in last years nationals trial rules, and chalker saw the coaster that used bounces (which won by a giant margin)so rip

The bounce in that video is in the middle of the supposed gap jump. As soon as it lands on the bottom of the device and bounces, that would mark the landing point and the ending measurement point for that particular gap bonus. This is entirely different from a vehicle that makes a legal gap jump and then bounces when it lands. In my opinion, jump, bounce, land is not allowed; but jump, land, bounce should be allowed.

make the receiver slightly tilted upwards so it kinda "catches" teh ball
