Reviving this

Michigan States, Wind Power (I think 2016).
My partner, who BUILT THE ENTIRE WIND TURBINE, forgot AT STATES about the event.
I ended up having to do the entire event myself (also the turbine blade broke earlier in the day so I was also stressing about that).
If we go to states, we usually place about once or twice (Michigan Div B is ruthless and you can't climb up the placings). I ended up getting 23rd, which wasn't terrible considering the emotional state I was in. She didn't even care either!

One of the people on my team(not my partner) legitimately thought turtles were amphibians and only learned they weren't amphibians a couple of days before the States.

Last year for mission possible my partner didn't do much. At one point we were working on it, and she was mostly sitting and watching. I got frustrated so the conversation went like this
"Ok, I'm hungry, I bet your hungry, wanna make us some microwave quesadillas?"
"How do you do that"
"You take the tortilla shells, shred the cheese, put the cheese in the tortilla, and microwave it"
"How do I shred the cheese, my family always get the bagged stuff"

I just kinda sat there and stared. She is 16, and doesn't know how to shred cheese. This is a good metaphor for the rest of the season.

My Wright Stuff partner last year no-showed for session 1 DP at states and arrived in the middle of my session 2 testing period. He ended up having to watch, since I had just grabbed another team member to help me. TBH, it wasn't a huge loss since he didn't do anything anyway, but still...

Teammate doing Mousetrap Vehicle quits 2 days before Regionals. I get assigned to it the day before. I had 1 day to build it and test it for Regionals.

I had to leave early and had a teammate test my tower 2 years ago. It was doing great but when it started making creaking noises at around 11kg he stopped pouring sand! Must have thought it was about to break and slowed down, but you gotta do the opposite and squeeze every last droplet. Still scored like 1700 LOL.

I don't want to give specific examples, but when you're lucky enough to mostly work with decent partners, a bad partner made me really grateful how great most of my other partners are.

I've had increasingly worse partners over the years. My first year I had good partners just with a few disagreements. My second year I had one partner in all my events and coaches in these events that refused to listen to me, only my partner. This year I have one partner who was hard to work with at first, but is getting better, but one of my other partners keeps throwing me under the bus with my coach and making me seem incompetent. My partner has made it clear they prefers the partner they had last year and refuses to help me catch up to his level in the event since it is my first year.
Thank you for tolerating my rant

This wasn't actually my partner, but a guy on B team, but for some reason he had 3/4 of the events I had. Whenever my coach makes us work together, he would act like he knew everything, even though he was a 6th grader and I had 2 years more experience in the events than him. Of course, his ego did not stop him from getting 22nd out of 23 teams at invitationals. What really flipped me off is when he stepped on my glider and broke the entire tail section a week before regional and just ran in the opposite direction as fast as he could. I was chill about it though, because that was my backup glider, but his attitude was what really flipped me off.
