Has anyone had experience using very fine paintbrushes to apply CA glue? I think you'd get more control and waste less glue that way, but keeping them viable for long may be tough. Maybe if you rinsed them in a little dish of acetone?

The only brushes small enough to be better than the already proposed solutions are far more expensive, and no better. You couldn't rinse them fast enough and once hardened acetone doesn't really clean effectively.
