The one might be the only boy on his team without a build event.

...are all boys supposed to do building events?

I don't think I've ever done a pure build (I did Simple Machines), though I know enough about some of them to comment on the threads. I might have done Towers if no one else on my team was good at it.

OK, to be fair, I myself have done builds, but I could pretty easily name multiple boys who haven't done builds...

Anyway, idea for alicecream:
Here's some stuff I've seen a lot at comps that might serve as inspiration:
-A new member who has wayyyy overblown/unrealistic expectations for the team (me in seventh grade who texted the entire team that we could make nationals with all of them thinking I was crazy)
-Kids that say bad things about a team while that team itself is right behind them at awards (happened to us ;_;)
-Alternares trying to have a LAN party using the competition hosts wifi and then being visibly frustrated when they realize that it's too slow
-that one proctor with a super heavy accent that people don't understand but don't want to point out

True story: I forgot to set an alarm, woke up late, and missed the bus to regionals. My parents had to rush an hour to Union County College, where i promptly got first place in R&M.

Usually we leave late people behind, but there was one notable exception: the person w/ all of varsity's builds.

the one guy who gets suckered into finishing all the builds people were too lazy to actually care about the weekend before a competition. (And then the lazy people get the medals and credit while he gets none.)

A story of partners! (maybe someone said this already)

How about two partners doing an event, and one is the one who is quiet / hardworking v. the one who is loud / seems like they work hard. Could either lead to a cute resolution or them just medaling and something like revenge after the fact >:).

The dumbest kid in school who got through general tryouts by cheating and now he has to tryout for events and compete.

A person who does nothing during practice, builds really sketchy-looking devices in the hotel room the night before the competition, but still manages to beat and humiliate his/her far better prepared competitors.

Well robot arm is now one of my favorite events.

Our first meeting and tryouts will be happening in a week, at which point I should be able to offer many ideas
