You never know when a tournament will make a date change; considering Penn, Princeton, and North Pocono are all first-year tournaments, it seems likely to me that at least one of them will change their date. Also, I suspect MIT will try to get January 27th, since they were originally aiming for the 28th this year but switched because of the Wright State conflict (though I wonder whether they would have switched if Wright State wasn't hosting Nationals this year).

Will this be like MIT which traditionally attracts powerhouse schools or more selective with its competitors (such as taking a mix)?

Generally new invitationals attract mainly schools from neighboring states, with a couple teams from further. MIT does not choose its competing teams; it merely attracts a lot of good teams because it has been successful in the past, and is held at a nationally renowned university. It's hard to predict completely just because it entirely depends on the teams that sign up, but I'm guessing the first year would be a good mix.

A competition for both divisions would be amazing, and I'm so happy to hear your plans, especially because Columbia's location would attract a variety of very strong and competitive teams

Oh, I should have probably mentioned this will be for Division C only probably (pending official talks with my planning team of course). Sorry should have mentioned that (I highly doubt we'll get enough rooms to ever have both divisions unfortunately but we'll try in the future).

So I got an email about that actually when I tried to figure out what next year's date would be and they said that while it's not set in stone, it would definitely be after January 27th, thus why we're thinking about December 2nd as a potential date.

I think it'd be great if it turned into something like MIT's mission statement of both great (nationally renown) teams and up and coming and also new teams- a good mix is always nice
