Well it's either an emergency and it's the best you can do, or you are planning on changing elastics and it's one of your variables you've tested. Either way what you said was unnecessary.

There should be a minimum ceiling height requirement for this event, if a competition can't get a place with a ceiling meeting these requirements the event should either not be held or held outside.

I would think the minimum ceiling height should be at least 10 feet, especially because the guidelines for C allow a 2-meter high target at 8 meters and a ground-level one at 10 meters. Or at least use closer and lower targets if the ceiling is low.

Seriously, don't most schools/colleges at least have a gym (which should have a >10 foot ceiling) where they could hold Trajectory?

Yes, your biggest concern in an emergency is making sure you are able to continue shooting, even if it does take time and even if you will get a significantly higher score. It's better than having to pull out of the competition.

I am just wondering, once the coordinator has checked to make sure our build fits inside a 60x60x60cm cube, does it have to be able to fit within those dimensions at all times? I am asking because when I adjust the firing angle of my ballista design, the back occasionally goes beyond 60cm. In the rules it designates a 1m wide 1.5m long launch area, does this mean parts of the build can extend beyond the cube as long as it stays within this area?

It is measured before a launch so yes it can be out of the dimensions (but still in the 1.5 x 1 m box)

That's what I was thinking. Part of our triggering device extends out of the 70x70 box for B, but that's not considered part of the machine. I would the think the answer would be yes, though.

I think you should make sure it fits inside the box at all times, just to be safe.
