I don't think you should read an entire textbook, depending on its size. If it's relatively large, then you could be much more effectively managing your time seeing other resources or just flipping through the more major points within the textbook. I would suggest looking at the Disease Detectives Wiki and googling stuff from the event, as you an get some very good resources that way.

I know of for sure like Cholera, and Polio, Small Pox, really the same ones that have been on there for the past few years, except this year you get a cheat sheet :/ we get lazier and lazier every year. I wish they didn't allow notes in most of the events.
I just happen to love reading, school, and eating:)
Don't question me, I will debate you early into the morning

It may be useful to know some diseases, but the majority of the event is finding statistics regarding a stroy of an outbreak that they give you. Vocabulary can also be a large part of the event, and they may sometimes ask you about famous epidemiologists and diseases, mostly as tiebreakers. This is a very good handout for this event as it covers almost everything for the event. The Science Olympiad homepage has very good resources, and the link goes to Disease Detectives specifically.

hey guys, i'm really curious
is the test more general knowledge, like the method and charts, or more specific knowledge, like specific diseases and stuff?

So yes it's mostly the method and charts.

Ahh, my favorite event! Snow and Jenner always pops up on my tests, what other famous epidemiologists/scientists are important for disease detectives?

Ok so if there is no tie, then the tie breaker questions are left ungraded?
