It would be awful if you study REALLY HARD for two events, and then find out that they are at the same time at the competition. 8-)

I hate schedule conflicts, mostly because it's always study/lab events, which you really have to prepare for, and not building events, which anyone can do (with the possible exception of JYC).

But I mean, if you really put all you're time into two events, and then have a conflict. I had a conflict last year, but fortunantly in was with two events that I hadn't studied much for.

Yeah, that would not be good, especially if it was Solar System and DP. Now, a conflict with Anatomy and something else would actually make me happy. On a side note, you know what would really make me mad? A three-way conflict between my best three events.

I remember last year at Regionals I had to choose between Compute This and RFS. I picked RFS only because I had already started studying for it.

that sucks
conflicts between events where you are the only one doing it is really bad
i had a conflict between disease detectives and dynamic planet and no one was really doing neither
so i chose d p the guy who replaced me in disease ended up medaling hm.... so now i'm making him do hte event b/c i never really wanted to do it anyways

5-way conflict? Wow.

I was looking at last year's schedule and saw that while most events are spread out over 3 time slots, Disease Detectives is only 1 slot. Does anyone know why they decided to cram 70 people into a room at once rather than spread it out over a couple time slots?

Idea: have everyone prepare for all the events, so anyone can take someone's place at the last minute. :D

Event conflicts happen, they are unavoidable without a tournament that goes on for 3 or 4 days.

The solution is, try to have more than two people (or at the very least more than one) doing every event. That way if a conflict does occur, it doesn't kill you.
Events: Herpetology, Fossils, Entomology, Rocks & Minerals, Ornithology, Ecology
Nationals 2008: 1st in Herpetology
Nationals 2009: 1st in Herpetology, 2nd in Fossils
