I like this idea. For next year, the Admins should make you get approval for a thread after November, at which point there will probably have been at least some discussion for every event. Or they could just set up one thread per event at the beginning of the year.
Strath Haven MS:
2008: Regionals-3, States-5
2009: Regionals-2, States-4
2010: Regionals-1, States-2, Nationals-19 :)
2011 (Co-captain): Regionals-1, States-1, Nationals-11 :D

Nationals: Aquifers-37, Compute This-13, Dynamic Planet-25, Ecology-6, Experimental Design-7, Junkyard-33

Moving to C...

I agree. Having Mods set up threads would lead to no more unnecessary threads (which seems to be the pet peeve of everyone here, myself included)
Science Olympiad is a tribute to Murphey's Law. This has been proven experimentally.
And no, I'm not a guy...even though my sig says will robsinson. It's a reference to Lost in Space, an ancient sci fi TV show. And the robot is the character who always says the line.

I'm pretty sure that you can set it up so certain forums can't have regular users make threads in them, am I correct?

But if the mods would set threads, then prevent people from making new ones, they'd probably want to create threads for trials, as there are a lot of new threads about the trial event.s

Well, the mods would only have to start by making the 23 event threads, and then people from the various states could just PM them to have their trials added... as I'm sure people have said before.
