Load Cell Amplifier Clarification

Just to clarify, we are not allowed to use a load cell amplifier/HX711 in our build since its considered a PCB, right?

The HX711 modules available on small PCBs with supporting resistors, capacitors and so on count as "a PCB" and are illegal.

A bare HX711 chip (on a surface mount adapter board, because I think that's only available in a surface mount package) on a breadboard, with the supporting resistors, capacitors and so on assembled on the breadboard by you would be legal.

At least, that's my reading of the rules.

@knightmoves, do you happen to have a link to what you believe would be an acceptable HX711 (preferably from a US site)? Would something like https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13879 be legal?

@CoderCCM, sadly, it seems like those sparkfun load cell amplifiers are violations. Here's that exact question: https://www.soinc.org/would-hx711-small ... -converter

Here's a link to the entire FAQ: https://www.soinc.org/detector-building
