Hot take: The winners of both divisions will have less then a 110 combined between the 2 and will have the lowest score in their respective division.
Is that really a hot take though? I feel like its kind of expected at this point.
I think this is a relatively hot take, a combined score of 110 has never happened before, and while Thomas Jefferson beat their old record in 2019 with a score of 50, I don't see it lowering much more, and for division C, I don't think they will beat a score of 59 due to the competitiveness seen in Division C.
I think this is the best carmel has ever been so I could easily see them getting a 65 which would be an average of about 4th. And in B I think TJ is still good and RP just seems to have gotten worse so I could see them getting a 36 or an average of 2nd because I expect them to place 1st in around 10-12.

I think you are right in taht carmel is good, but i could see them getting a score even lower than 65 (maybe something around 35).

There is no way that any school at the state tournament is getting lower than a 40 at the current moment, especially in C

Granted, there hasn't been a true head to head Carmel/Munster matchup this year, but there has already been two sub 40 superscores at the first two Indiana invites which had most but not all of the teams that will be at state so its not completely out of the realm of possibility.

Scoring below 40 is far from impossible to be honest. In Wisconsin this year (and looking at Badger results), there were 3 teams below 60, and 2 below 50 all from the same state (that's if you score only the in state teams at the meet). In general, Indiana is a fairly top-heavy state, with a fairly significant drop off in performance at the national level behind Carmel and Munster (not that there aren't other teams that are good). This (plus less teams competing) is a great recipe for low team scores. I definitely think that in 2021 it is possible for several state records for low points to be broken. Keep in mind, both Carmel AND Munster have been quite strong this year.

I don't know much about Div B, but looking at TJ's results from this year, they are still dominant. And now that Raymond Park has fallen off, there is no true contender in Div B and TJ will be able to get another low score. Additionally, in 2019 if you take away the build events, IIRC Carmel would have gotten a score of 55. That was 2 years ago. They are a much stronger team now, and they can easily get a sub-40 score. I think this year it is MORE LIKELY that the two champions get a combined score less than 110 than it not happening.
8th grade events: Mission Possible and Hovercraft.
High School: Codebusters, Designer genes, Gravity Vehicle, Mission Possible, Machines, Ping Pong Parachute, Boomilever, Protein Modeling.

It's been a heck of a ride, vortexx out.

Honestly yeah this is a good point. Idk where everyone is getting this "combined score less than 110" stuff from lol but imo there's possibility of it being a combined score of less than 72.5.

Yeah TJ should get around 40 or 50 easily. Its all about if Carmel gets 60 like expected or if they don't. Anyways the true hot take of my take was that the champions of each division would have the lowest score in their division.

It would be cool if we had another google forum survey like we had 2 years ago, with overall placings 1-5 but also guessing specific event winners.
