Re: BEARSO Invitational
Stacking is assumed. Also assuming all of these teams actually pay on time.
1. Troy (CA-S)
2. Solon (OH)
3. Seven Lakes (TX)
4. Mason (OH)
5. Mountain View (CA-N)
6. WWPN (NJ)
7. Centerville (OH)
8. Boca Raton (FL)
9. Mira Loma (CA-N)
10. LASA (TX)
11. Monta Vista (CA-N)
12. Clements (TX)
13. CCA (CA-S)
14. Rustin (PA)
15. Cumberland Valley (PA)
I expect a pretty significant drop-off from 12th-14th.

Re: BEARSO Invitational
Well, Troy is the only school to have gone to nats from SoCal in literally 26 years (I think) so if a school gets even close to beating them, I'm sure they will do amazing in a competition that is full of people that sometimes don't even get close to beating Troy.EastStroudsburg13 wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 11:54 amThe main east coast exclusions I see are Mason, Centerville, WWPN, LASA, Clements, and Boca Raton here. California is certainly a competitive state, but I think this goes a little far. Granted, I have no idea how things have changed since last season, but if I was ranking based on perceived strength from last season my top 10 power ranking would probably look something like this:gz839918 wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 11:08 am 25 more days until BEARSO! My top 10 superscored predictions for Division C:
1. Troy (CA-S)

3. Canyon Crest (CA-S)
4. Solon (OH)
5. Seven Lakes (TX)
6. Mira Loma (CA-N)
7. Monta Vista (CA-N)
8. Lynbrook (CA-N)
9. Glen A. Wilson (CA-S)
10. Westview (CA-S)
Most of this is a shot in the dark considering that west coast and east coast teams have competed in separate universes so far, save for Troy making nationals. I pretty much estimated California teams' rankings based on Golden Gate, and dropped Solon and Seven Lakes near the top for good measure. Exciting to say the least!

Re: BEARSO Invitational
Even considering that, Canyon Crest is not nearly as strong as many of those other out of state teams. I think these predictions are fairly accurate.Godspeed wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 2:12 pmWell, Troy is the only school to have gone to nats from SoCal in literally 26 years (I think) so if a school gets even close to beating them, I'm sure they will do amazing in a competition that is full of people that sometimes don't even get close to beating Troy.EastStroudsburg13 wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 11:54 amThe main east coast exclusions I see are Mason, Centerville, WWPN, LASA, Clements, and Boca Raton here. True, does anybody have an exact number of how many teams going to BearSO have gone to Nationals in the past?Umaroth wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 2:47 pmEven considering that, Canyon Crest is not nearly as strong as many of those other out of state teams. I haven't counted that yet (as not all teams have signed up), but I know that teams from 24 states (including 2 from Arkansas) have signed up. 25 if you include NorCal and SoCal as separate.

Re: BEARSO Invitational
Assuming we are counting 2021 as a direct continuation of strength from 2020, (which is a big if lol but I don't really know how else to go about predicting for such an unprecedented time), I wouldn't put Seven Lakes lower than 4th (and even that feels a little low lol), based on those MIT results, which were alarmingly impressive, even 8 months later.
So, just for fun, here we go lol, assuming stacking. Probably not too many hot takes here...
1. Troy
2. Seven Lakes
3. Mason
4. Solon
5. WWPN
6. Boca Raton
7. Centerville
8. LASA
9. Mountain View
10. Clements
CCA, Mira Loma, Rustin, and Cumberland Valley are all big contenders to get into low top 10/high teens as well. Also, if Stuyvesant has a good day, they could also potentially come close too! They had a great 2020 season and I can see them continuing it into 2021.
Sources: Basically nothing solid, except like 2020 results, so yeah.
This is gonna a wild ride and I'm excited to see the results! Best of luck as everyone continues to prepare haha

Re: BEARSO Invitational
I feel like most teams have tryouts in late september/october, which means that most teams will be much less prepared and will have to rely much on prior knowledge.Giantpants wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 6:34 pm Assuming we are counting 2021 as a direct continuation of strength from 2020, (which is a big if lol but I don't really know how else to go about predicting for such an unprecedented time), I wouldn't put Seven Lakes lower than 4th (and even that feels a little low lol), based on those MIT results, which were alarmingly impressive, even 8 months later.

Re: BEARSO Invitational
Yea, but considering for most of the study events, the rules are unchanged, this may not be as big of a factor as previous seasons (?)Godspeed wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 7:40 pmI feel like most teams have tryouts in late september/october, which means that most teams will be much less prepared and will have to rely much on prior knowledge.Giantpants wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 6:34 pm Assuming we are counting 2021 as a direct continuation of strength from 2020, (which is a big if lol but I don't really know how else to go about predicting for such an unprecedented time), I wouldn't put Seven Lakes lower than 4th (and even that feels a little low lol), based on those MIT results, which were alarmingly impressive, even 8 months later.

Although of course, we have no real way of knowing this since this has never happened before lol
