Suggestion for Administrators/Staff: Why not show up of on you Profile, an option, where you can say how long you have participated in Science Olympiad so far, or in total during your years you did it. Thoughts?

Re: Your Daily Random Comment
I think it makes more sense to make new threads for next year - the threads for 2020 are still going to be in the archive regardless. It just makes more sense to me to start fresh for a new year, especially when this one went the way it did. I really like the idea of having like, a "Years Competed" type thing on the sidebar, though.MoMoney$$$;)0) wrote: ↑April 19th, 2020, 6:23 pm Question for Administrators/Staff: Are you guys keeping the competition forums for next year, or are you going to lock them out and start fresh again next year?

My opinion would be no. I know way more about how to do things on the wiki than with phpBB but either:MoMoney$$$;)0) wrote: ↑April 19th, 2020, 6:23 pm Suggestion for Administrators/Staff: Why not show up of on you Profile, an option, where you can say how long you have participated in Science Olympiad so far, or in total during your years you did it. 1) the user is going to have to update this with every new year they're in scioly
2) code will update this number with each new year
The problem with #1 is that this is just a hassle some users may not want to have to do, and honestly most people already have this in their signature (often with more information, such as the events they're in, the school they go to, and other stuffs). Problem with #2 is I'm not even sure that's possible, and what if a person leaves scioly and comes back? Joins in the middle of the year? Becomes a grad but leaves scioly.org and doesn't update their profile? I think they're too many variables for a program to run that
Not a bad thought, just I don't think it could be implemented well

I went out to remove the weeds and such from my garden spot Saturday, and I found a potato plant and three strawberry plants growing nicely. It's been 2 years since I planted potatoes, and 3 years since I planted strawberries in a pot uphill of there... One of the strawberry plants is already starting to bloom.
