I find it rather amusing that a phrase originating from pidgin English from either Chinese-American immigrants or Indians ("Long time no see") is a feature of standard English now. Something to ponder, I suppose. I'm doing fine.Things2do wrote: ↑March 31st, 2020, 8:01 pmLong time no see. Re: Your Daily Random Comment
TLDR: Hey could you all do me a favor and fill out my entomology blog quiz in the link below? I promise it'll only take 3-4 minutes ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
https://blog105.web.unc.edu/
It's for a class, and I'm trying to prove a point that SciOly students can grasp and appreciate subjects they haven't studied in depth before, such as entomology.
Long version:
Basically, for my ENGL 105 class I'm writing an evaluative blog (aka the professor's fancy jargon for a plain old essay in blog format). I like to talk about SciOly, but based on what I've said, my English professor feels SciOly is a superficial sham of an extracurricular, since tests are terrible for student understanding. I told him that SciOly cultivates critical thinking more than memorization. Well, part of the evaluative blog involves conducting a survey (he let me do a quiz instead). So, my plan is to show the scioly.org community is capable of understanding an out-of-rotation event, because the same science skills you need for entomology can be gained from any event (even builds). Of course scioly.org isn't a representative sample of everybody but the prof is very confident in his claims. All you'll do is read short blog articles about entomology and answer some questions. It won't take long nor is it stressful, so it'd be great if you could fill it out!
P.S. If you liked my sounds of music tests (esp if you love music theory!!!!), I think you'll enjoy the entomology quiz even if you know nothing about insects, since the best tests go beyond memorization... and as always, if you like or dislike my sounds test it'd be awesome if you could rate my tests :))))
Unrelated, but so that I don't double post:
okay but I'm a bit frazzled time for bed for me lol

Also, PSA: If you are or over the age of 18, take the Census! (If you are younger than 18, remind your parents to take it!) Here is a video from the U.S. Census Bureau on how to take the Census online, call, or by mail!
