Replaying Events for 2021

What I'm proposing is that 28 events are scored, and teams can drop the 5 lowest events, resulting in the same number (23) of events counting towards a team score, and allowing teams to pick which events they want scored more.

Lots of invitationals have a hard enough time running 23 events (finding space, supervisors, etc.) Expecting them to find space and people for 5 extra events might be difficult. I've been to lots of invitationals in schools where virtually every room was in use. I don't see that those schools would have the capacity to add 5 more events.

Meh they can find space, if they want to hold an inviatational, or just not offer trial events.

Meh they can find space, if they want to hold an inviatational, or just not offer trial events.

We would not have space to accommodate an additional five events at the SHSSO Invitational without cutting back on the number of participating teams (which would then make it even *more* challenging to find enough supervisors/volunteers for the increased number of events).

I believe that they’re intending to make some changes to the orni list, but I haven’t seen anything about the fossils list. Regardless, the changes won’t be so big that you’ll have to completely redo all your notes (unless you want to to get more detailed info lol)

i mean fossils wouldn't have been an event next year so you technically wouldn't have needed to remake anything anyways

Is anyone up for creating rules for a Quantum Mechanics event, I'm willing to create rules for the trial event, but I was wondering if there is any support up for making rules for it (Since I've personally made a new event), and well as submitting it as an official Science Olympiad trial. Any thoughts or considerations?

Hmm, would it be feasible to trial it in the Friendly Science Competition?

Well for starters we need some actual rules for it to start with. If anyone wants to look into it, I started a planning phase document. Feel free to add any suggestions or more.

uh sorry if im interrupting or anything but wasnt boomi an event for about 3 yrs? and wasnt elevated bridges an event in 2011 or 2010?

Just for the future, usually it won't be necessary to ask the same question in multiple topics, as there's a high chance it will be seen and answered if posted in just one.
