I didnt want to quote the email I received for Norcal, but it did have a section from NSO basically saying this.

Idaho has put out an official statement saying we are monitoring the situation. Utah, to our south, has Cancelled their state events.

Sources: Me, I am on the State Board of Directors for Idaho. Utah's announcement can be found here: https://www.utahscienceolympiad.utah.ed ... -covid-19/

does this mean that we can’t purchase the nationals tests for this season?

I would guess that most of the tests for this year's Nationals are not yet (fully) written. I'm sure there are exceptions, but my guess is that most of them would reach completion in April, generally. Of course, I don't know if there are plans to release what may already exist.

No national tournament very likely means no national test packets available. However, we have many tests on our Test Exchange that teams may use for their preparation.

Difficulty just increases a bit
You have to compete with the seniors for the spot
Probably not that bad since 4 of our freshmen made it into varsity
Edit: How in the world does everyone post ahead of me ree
I would like to point out that this strongly depends on the discrepancy in competitiveness of your high school and middle school. Generally, if most of your middle school students feed into the high school, it should be roughly similar with the disadvantage of not having higher-level science classes.

On the other hand, here at Troy, since we're a magnet school, we have plenty of freshmen that feed in from no-name and non-powerhouse teams(including me!), so new people are often in for a shock when they realize the time and effort expected of someone to make the team.

UTK, the host of the TN State Tournament, has officially transitioned to holding all classes online through April 3rd and cancelled events through April 5th. Since the state tournament is on April 25th, this has no effect as of yet.
