Re: Covid-19 and Nats/States
I heard an unsubstantiated rumor this weekend that Texas may have cancelled their state tournament as well...
Budgets at the school level are always tight and paying out as much as $250 / team for registration is a pretty big hit for most teams. I'm wondering if any of that get returned for that state tournaments that are cancelled...

This is from New York: "Since both the State Tournaments have been canceled and the State Tournament Qualifying Team registration payments have not yet been deposited, kindly ask your respective School District Business Offices to contact our Treasurer, {No use in spreading her information further, it's in the letter if you need it}, to discuss State Tournament Qualifying Team registration payment returns." - Source (PDF, 3 pages. Re: Covid-19 and Nats/States
There is now a map on this page for a visual representation of this info. I will attempt to update it as more info is released.Unome wrote: ↑March 8th, 2020, 7:49 pm Also, timeline so far of all Covid-19 announcements that I can find (for better tracking of an ongoing situation):
Wiki page - please contribute any missing information (remember to link to the source)
I suspect many state and tournament pages may find it useful to link to that page in explanations.
happy new season!

Ok thank you. Fingers crossed that this does not happen the way it did to my state (New York).

Re: Covid-19 and Nats/States
Not sure which outcome to hope for at this point... the disappointment of a cancellation is immeasurable, but we need to avoid community spread--on the other hand, I feel the benefit of canceling a tournament is mostly negated by even going to school for one day.snowyowl wrote: ↑March 9th, 2020, 9:58 amOk thank you. Re: Covid-19 and Nats/States
Could a member of the scioly.org staff make a pinned link to the 2019-20 coronavirus page on the main page of both the forums and the wiki? I'm thinking of something like the "Welcome to the new season!" banner that appeared last September when the rules came out. This could reduce misinformation about cancellations (e.g. Maine and New Jersey forums) so that members of the general public won't be misled by posts that they read out of context, since most members of the public don't read entire threads.
