Build Part of Detector Building Canceled Day Before Tournament

It's the day before my regions regional Science Olympiad event, and my instructor got an email saying that the build part of detector building wasn't going to happen. The email said that it was just going to be a test event. I'm pretty upset because I spent a good deal of time working on the build, and I was wondering if this happened to anybody else?

lmao that almost happened to thermo at NJ states last year, but an ES stepped up to it.

Really I've never heard of this happening, since it's a big deciding factor in the event, and one of the big parts of the event as a whole. I'm very surprised, you should try arguing to it to your ES maybe. I've never heard of this so I don't know what to tell you, but personally this disappoints me.
