Times and sec/ft
Re: Times and sec/ft
Anyone tried a spherical parachute?
Also, does more strings give better stability?

Wow! impressive. Of course I wouldn't expect you to give away any trade secrets here, but was that just a standard circular plastic parachute catching a lucky updraft? A lot of teams (including ours) are struggling to break the 1 sec/ft barrier.

I think spherical means having a shape other than flat, like a dome.donutsandcupcakes wrote: ↑February 20th, 2020, 5:38 pmWhat do you mean spherical? Like a circle shape?
I've made two but neither worked. The problem is that I can't figure out how to put the pieces together without adding a lot of weight with tape or glue.

Yeah, it was a very lucky updraft. The parachute started rising towards the ceiling, then dropping.

Re: Times and sec/ft
Top time at soup was about 28 seconds I heard. 33 ft of useable space (rafters at 20 ft but didn't affect flights that much)

Re: Times and sec/ft
dang the top time was only 28 seconds??? our time was ~23 seconds and we got 6th, so im surprised that there wasn't more of a margin.builderguy135 wrote: ↑February 22nd, 2020, 5:34 pm Top time at soup was about 28 seconds I heard. 33 ft of useable space (rafters at 20 ft but didn't affect flights that much)
