Last year they weren't as dominant at states, only beating Bayard Rustin by 29 points. Considering that was when they got 11th at MIT and this year they got 22nd I could definitely see Bayard Rustin, and maybe even Lower Merion, beating Harriton this year. Just because they've made it happen in the past doesn't necessarily mean they will this year.catch-22 wrote: ↑February 4th, 2020, 3:41 pm 1. Harriton
2-3. Bayard Rustin and Cumberland Valley
4-5. LM and SSA
Anything less than first for Harriton would surprise me. If this year is like last, they'll have a weak invitational showing, be sightly better at regionals, win the state title, and peak at nats.
Rustin and CV are looking pretty close right now. I still feel like CV is a little ahead at this point in the season, but Rustin is known to improve significantly in the latter part of the season. This is going to be a tight race.
I wasn't able to choose between LM and SSA, but maybe SOUP will help me decide. LM is looking weaker than last year, and SSA is looking stronger. I don't know how these two teams compare, and I don't think there will be a huge gap in their scores at states.
I wouldn't say one is over the other, but they are definitely close. It's evident in the scores that LM has been unstacking, as they always do during their invitational season. SOUP will be a good time to analyze their strength.
