Running Mousetrap Vehicle
Running Mousetrap Vehicle
Hello!
I am running an invitational and I was generally wondering how wide/long the hallway needs to be for the event.
Also, any other helpful tips and information would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Running Mousetrap Vehicle
The target distance must be between 9 and 12 m. The hall should be significantly longer than the target distance so you can measure overshoots without having them stop at a wall. Similarly, you should have plenty of width so cars that don't go straight don't get "helped" by the wall. Ideal is a space marked out on the floor of something like a gym or assembly hall. Narrow corridors are bad because they funnel poorly-steered cars towards the target.
That said, if you have a corridor that's 3-4m wide, it's probably not too horrible to use it.
