That's correct. There is no official policy on the eligibility of the hosting school. This provides tacit permission for hosting schools to compete. Out here we generally allow host teams compete for medals, but no trophies, which I think works very well.xopherirvin wrote: ↑December 23rd, 2019, 7:23 amThat's correct. That's interesting. As a tournament director and a coach, I'm interested in hearing more about how others approach this.Umaroth wrote: ↑December 23rd, 2019, 8:38 amOut here we generally allow host teams compete for medals, but no trophies, which I think works very well.xopherirvin wrote: ↑December 23rd, 2019, 7:23 amThat's correct. Something Solon did last year at their invitational is simulate where they would've placed on an electronic spreadsheet, like avagadro, but not actually get any medals.xopherirvin wrote: ↑December 23rd, 2019, 6:27 pmThat's interesting. Battle at Valley Forge Predictions:
1. WWPN A
2. WWPN B
3. CV A
4. Rustin A
5. LM A
6. CV B
7. Princeton
8. LM B
9. Harriton
10. Conestoga or Penncrest
My predictions are Predictions and they will probably end up not being accurate at all. Also, most of these rankings were based off the invitationals we have seen this year and this invitational itself from 2019. Let me know what y'all think.

Re: Pennsylvania 2020
BAVF seems like liso without ward, stuy, and ny teams in general. Personally I'd put CV a little higher in general due to the amount of fillers they had at liso; especially with the travel distance, CV most likely did not perform optimally there.Sc1olygod wrote: ↑December 24th, 2019, 7:50 pm Battle at Valley Forge Predictions:

Re: Pennsylvania 2020
Two teams you may wanna think about putting in here somewhere would be us (Kellenberg) and Great Neck South. We both had pretty strong LISO placements, so if I had to insert us somewhere I’d probably place both teams right above or below Cumberland Valley B, in either order, since our scores were pretty close at LISO.
Other than that I think the predictions are solid. Ig a lot will depend on if Lower Merion unstacks like they did at Cornell, but I’m sure their teams will do very well regardless!

Re: Pennsylvania 2020
I’m sorry. I did not realize that you guys were going. I definitely would have you guys on that top 10 board without a doubt. I could even maybe see a top 5 as well.Giantpants wrote: ↑December 25th, 2019, 10:49 amTwo teams you may wanna think about putting in here somewhere would be us (Kellenberg) and Great Neck South. Re: Pennsylvania 2020
That's also the most common method at invitationals in Georgia, although it does vary quite a bit here. If I were ever in such a position it's probably the method I would default to (the tournament I ran was Div B at an HAS so wasn't an issue then).xopherirvin wrote: ↑December 23rd, 2019, 6:27 pmThat's interesting. That's correct. There is no official policy on the eligibility of the hosting school. This provides tacit permission for hosting schools to compete. It comes down to the philosophy of the tournament director.
