Wheels

Post by cpucuber »

What kind of wheels are you guys using for your vehicle? I was thinking about using the 3.15 inch Pololu Wheels. I also know that CD wheels are very popular

Those Pololu wheels look pretty cool. They have good grip? Definately lighter looking than banebots. I printed mine, and had rubber sleeves from a different set of wheels my coach had.

Last year when this was a C event I found that 3D printing and balloons worked well enough. Never had any issues with skidding as the acceleration is never large enough.

If we have the Banebots T-40 wheels and a 3/16 in axle, what are our options? Banebots only sells metric hubs for those wheels at 2, 3, 4, and 6 mm, and 3/16 in is about 4.7 mm.

T40s are great wheels but definately on the heavy side. If its helpful, you can buy metric threaded rod to mesh. Or drill out a banebot hub as needed. Up to your car if it can handle the extra weight.

Thanks. They are indeed heavier than CDs; the kids are just trying different things at the moment.

Do you have access to a 3D printer?
