Some folks apparently go by kind of code words, like "Oatmeal" is supposed to mean one kind, etc. Maybe one of the shining stars will post their memory-aids :D . Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaase?..... I have a hard time with this one.
i didn't have to do any of that, my partner already knew them apart
I stole last year's Rocks and Minerals binder and copied the pages from there.
There once was a group of teens
Who were lean mean science machines.
They liked to win medals,
when everything settles
and their favorite color was green.

I would reccomend going online and getting pics of the various fossil-bearing rocks and making flash cards. (I don't know if flash cards work for you...I'm in love with them, so that's why I'm saying this)

And no, I'm not a guy...even though my sig says will robsinson. It's a reference to Lost in Space, an ancient sci fi TV show. And the robot is the character who always says the line.

It's so sad...I'm a flashcard freak. I don't have any for SO (this year), but I do for 4 out of m 7 classes. For French, I have 1 1/2 huge Ziplock freezer bags filled to the brim only with flashcards! :D :ugeek:

You need to know which Phylum a fossil belongs to on sight. From there, look in your binder and compare using the pictures. All of the follow-up questions after you ID the fossil are pretty much using your binder.
