I would reccomend going online and getting pics of the various fossil-bearing rocks and making flash cards. (I don't know if flash cards work for you...I'm in love with them, so that's why I'm saying this)

It's so sad...I'm a flashcard freak. I don't have any for SO (this year), but I do for 4 out of m 7 classes. For French, I have 1 1/2 huge Ziplock freezer bags filled to the brim only with flashcards!

You need to know which Phylum a fossil belongs to on sight. From there, look in your binder and compare using the pictures. All of the follow-up questions after you ID the fossil are pretty much using your binder.
