Don't worry about it, we've all been there. Banebots sells hubs to fit different axle sizes and their different models of wheels. If you have a 1/4" threaded rod, consider getting these:

They come with set screws that allow you to secure the hub to the axle, and snap rings to secure the wheels to the hubs.

Probably not the best idea, but another alternative is to use nuts and washers to secure the wheels if you don't want to pay for hubs.

I changed the Image Gallery link to the archive.org crawl of it. It didn't save all of page 2 when it crawled it, but page 1 is there. It won't blow up the pictures, either.

I think they make bigger hubs. I'm not sure, though, since I've never used their wheels. I use brass tubing for my axles, but I don't think they'll hold up to the weight this year. I've been contemplating cramming some threaded rod in to stiffen 'em, since I know that's possible. I also know that I found some hubs that fit either the 40 or the 81 wheels that fit my axles, but your threaded rod is probably thicker than mine. I think the hubs have a screw to tighten them down on the axle, and then the wheels snap into them.

Ahh that's a good idea. I was thinking of just using paper for some reason... I forgot tape existed.

Can anyone advise me on how to reduce friction in ball bearings. I bought open ones and then put them in wd40. They are still not that free. Any advice? Thanks

You may want to try cleaning out the bearing before wd40? If you have lighter fluid or acetone (nail polish remover), pour some into a cup and put the bearings in and swish around for a bit. It should clear out some of the gunk that might be stuck in the bearing.

WD 40 will leave a thin gummy residue after it dries unless you blow it out. Acetone is quite flammable souse it with care.. 70% rubbing alcohol is somewhat ls flammable and should work well.
I like blowing the bearings dry with high pressure air after a soak in any solvent,. but that is a violation of OSHA rules.

Last year I tried numerous substances to loosen up the bearings and I had the most success soaking them in kerosene. If you do this, make sure you soak them outside so that you don't breath in the fumes.
