As an soon to be Eagle (EBOR is a week away!) scout, I can proudly state that learning how to deal with difficult people is one of the most important things I have learned in Scouts - and I am serious about this. If you don’t learn how to deal with people, plan, and deal with things like when your bag strap rips, your fellow scouts stuck on a hill, or your tent is more or less flooded, you’ll either learn it later or not at all - both undesirable compared to learning it now. (And yes, I’ve been I all those situations)

Yes.

Ours are similar, but with yellow tees and at least 10 years of wear... The most water we've ever gotten in one is about a inch in the shallow end and about 4 inches in the deep end. It was only in the 60s, so it wasn't as bad as the time a friend of mine filled his hammock on a backpacking trip in the 40s... He didn't have twine on his suspension, and it poured that night. {We have about a 99% success rate on making it rain, or occasionally snow...}
