Teams Per School
So my school participates in Division C of NYC Regionals and this year we have a ton of applicants. Our head coach appears to not care about exceeding the team capacity limit of 15 members or the senior limit of up to 7 per team. We already have well over the amount of students to fill up 3 teams entirely. I'd like to know if there was some sort of limit to how many teams a school can have participating in a regional competition.
I also wanted to propose a method of selecting the better spectrum of students to participate in the competition, but I don't know of a good method to do so. What would be a good way of selecting students?

Re: Teams Per School
This is dependent on the regional site, so the most qualified person to answer this is drcubbin, who's the director.NTangerine wrote: ↑September 26th, 2019, 7:11 pm So my school participates in Division C of NYC Regionals and this year we have a ton of applicants. Most teams use a combo of tryout tests and invitational performance to choose their final team.

Dr. Cubbin is the director for Division B NYC Regionals. It depends on which regional you're going to. The NYC Div C West is Savvas Papadoupoulos and the NYC Div C East is Tom Sangiorgi. Also I believe there's no limit although you should still ask anyways.Umaroth wrote: ↑September 26th, 2019, 7:19 pmThis is dependent on the regional site, so the most qualified person to answer this is drcubbin, who's the director.NTangerine wrote: ↑September 26th, 2019, 7:11 pm So my school participates in Division C of NYC Regionals and this year we have a ton of applicants. Most people's experience is that some people drop out once they understand how much work is involved.NTangerine wrote: ↑September 26th, 2019, 7:11 pm So my school participates in Division C of NYC Regionals and this year we have a ton of applicants. We usually lose quite a few people before December. Just because people are interested doesn't mean they'll follow through.knightmoves wrote: Most people's experience is that some people drop out once they understand how much work is involved.
That being said though, we use three B teams and two C teams. I don't know how it is in New York, though.

Re: Teams Per School
Personally I'd suggest to take in two teams, because most invitationals only accept 2 teams max for comp (and usually 1 for states).NTangerine wrote: ↑September 26th, 2019, 7:11 pm So my school participates in Division C of NYC Regionals and this year we have a ton of applicants. A good way of selecting students would be just to run a tryouts session or a scrimmage.

Re: Teams Per School
Our regional doesn't cap the amount of teams you can bring, and since we host our regional, we bring 5 teams.

Re: Teams Per School
My school brings 5 teams as well. Our regional is near the center of our town, which makes a lot of things really easy.BennyTheJett wrote: ↑September 30th, 2019, 8:18 am Our regional doesn't cap the amount of teams you can bring, and since we host our regional, we bring 5 teams.
