Ok, I played out the chess board and now I'm super confused. I'm pretty sure the only way for a pawn to take a pawn was to use the same pawn that MadCow represented.

Well, there are a lot more pawns in this game than in chess--all of Scioly.org are pawns, minus the officers. I don't believe there is a highly detailed chess game going on in the background at this point, but a mostly symbolic one.

What hurt worse to me was that our 2 people got 0 points at State in it, and I probably coulda helped in it, even without studying... I think I might shoot for 10+ events next year, which would allow me to help 'em in it while being the only person in Circuit Lab*...

They changed it-- it's now "The first letter of knight, if you can't spell, is a different letter than the real first letter... hmm."
The letter used for the knight in chess notation, as well as the phonetic first letter, is N. I think they're trying to spell out something with these letters.

Do we have a list of all his sigs?

for number 2, you can't castle queenside until the fifth move. The notation is O-O-O. (You can castle kingside on the fourth move, with notation O-O).
4 might be referring to the fool's mate.

the o might also be a three. Or the whole idea of queenside castling might be useless.

The room is so quiet you could hear a needle drop. Arbitrarily, I glance out the window, seeing the pine trees, and hope that I can finally take another piece... maybe, just maybe, this'll be possible to win.

I can't help but notice the bolded sections spell out my (former) username... maybe I'm just crazy and want to be killed.

Also, arbitrarily is arpitr with the p upside down...

I noticed these because the word arbitrarily seemed to be arbitrarily placed in there.

If it refers to fools mate, then it probably refers to the square that the white pawn moves. (Wild Guess)
