Putting punctuation outside quotation marks is more logical, no (unless it's included in the quote)?

The ellipses followed by a period (....) denotes the omission of a sentence between sentences, not just a trailing of speech or the omission of words. As for the "s," Tails has two of his namesake, so my subconscious jumped to thinking that "Tails" is a plural noun, and I didn't catch it when I re-read that...

The Southern dictionary can both exist and also not serve as a source for correct grammar. Either way, correcting other people's grammar in posts is a quite antagonistic thing to doThings2do, so how about we stop doing that.
