So is there an issue with scoring at Cornell or are Nationals a completely different animal? Just curious.

so here are the *facts*:

1. I know Springhouse's placement was changed at Cornell invitational from originally announced 5th place to 2nd place. The correction was made the next day after the tournament and the trophy was shipped later. Yes, this information is from the team directly. Why was it not posted publicly on Cornell invitational site and Ezra, no clue.
The thing is, if there was a scoring error it obviously would have affected other teams. No one else seems to have been notified about this. Also, the minimum amount of points you would need to beat Gelinas would be 15 points. The only event you guys did worse than 15th in was Boomilever. How come no other teams were told about this significant change? And can you provide some other proof directly from Ezra and/or Cornell SciOly, because this honestly seems kind of fishy. How are any of us supposed to trust you when the only information we're hearing about this is coming from Springhouse and the Springhouse website and no other sources?

@sciolyfan2005 since when does one website powered by weebly rule over ezratech, a website that is used by teams all around the nation? Imo, ezratech website > springhouse website. plus, did you guys privately contact the organizers about spirnghouse getting 2nd? I’m pretty sure they would announce it rather than just tell one team. And what is the scoring issue anyway?
so here are the *facts*:

2. Springhouse team is not a fan of either pointing out the fact that they came second or that Cornell invitational made a mistake. I understand that point. It does not matter one bit in the long run.
3. While it was not posted publicly on Springhouse site, it did not matter. However since it was now posted on the team site, I just wanted to personally gauge what would the reaction and discussion on national predictions would be, if this was widely known, which lead to my post.
4. I did not anticipate the reaction the post got.

To be honest, it does not matter if anyone believes this or not. What difference would it make irrespective. However, it is truly very interesting to see the reaction of pure "dis-belief" and no benefit of doubt. A few posters seem to have jumped on it in a little too involved manner (especially Community MS). I do wonder why? I also wish I did not do this little experiment, but its a little too late for that

Good luck to everyone that made nationals. Its shaping out to be a great one.
I did not mean for my response to come off that way.

If this is true, no one knew about this. I don't know why it was never publicly announced or put on the website, but I think you probably know why we'd all be extremely shocked by this result.

To be fair, your post came out of nowhere. Everyone assumed the invy and its resulting discussion was over, hence the reaction from everyone in this thread.

Lastly, what do you mean by us being "a little involved"? I feel like our responses can be justified because this competition is extremely relevant to our team. I apologise if some of our comments came off as slightly rude.

Just wondering, what event was changed and to what place?

Even their wiki on the result for cornell is empty. Just saying. But I would be confused too of I saw the picture of a SECOND PLACE TROPHY from the 2019 cornell competition and didn't know the standings from Ezra, and then to have a bunch of people tell you that springhouse didn't get 2nd and kind of explode on you ( that's how I interpreted some of the posts, but that's simply opinion.)

Being involved isn't an issue. As another competitor, I am simply corroborating the information on the internet with the other information available. In addition, pointing fingers isn't really helpful! :) On the other hand, your team shouldn't be too involved with our builds either, and your parents shouldn't be involved with your builds either as well!

I mean, is it an issue to be involved when we have an issue corroborating results from a very important invite with many of the top teams in the nation? This is actually a fairly well-controlled reaction, seeing as people are bound to be surprised. and since Springhouse isn't necessarily a favorite to win... almost like certain people there boo other teams...

agreed. i don’t think any of us meant to come off as accusatory or anything, but we all kind of just want to know what happened, since none of us from any other team that attended cornell heard anything about this.

In my opinion, the two are different animals indeed. Nationals is run by the nationals committee with well known supervisors who have done this a very long time. It’s Scioly’s biggest event with big budgets. Cornell invitational, while well run from what I can tell, is managed by young adults (Cornell students) who are part of the club at the school. They do not have the same resources and by all indications do a commendable job with what they have. I do believe the club will indeed help the national committee with the tournament as volunteers. The past club leadership is a big reason they were able to get the competition to Cornell anyway, but that is where the overlap ends.
