What kind of crazy hats/outfits do teams wear at Nats?

Fulton Science Academy is going to Nationals for the 2nd time (1st time was 2007, but most of those people are gone). We are wondering what kind of hats and costumes different teams wear for the Parade of States? Do you wear them at your events too? What are your favorite things for the swap meet?

I think all schools have a t-shirt...
I would say be creative for the compeition...
i don't really know exactly though since its my first year on the team.. and first time going to nationals
but nothing warm cause its gonna be hot!

-license plates
-hats
-things related to your state

You don't wear them to events- most teams have a separate shirt for Parade of States, and the hats are often traded away during the swap meet.
There's generally a team from Wisconsin with cheese hats... we had Statue of Liberty hats one year, since we're from New York... someone had lobster hats, but I don't remember where they were from- I think Maine or something. They're usually related to the state (although sometimes they're based on a school mascot or something like that).
Pretty much nobody has any outfits more involved than just hats. Sometimes, someone in a mascot costume will go up with the banner holders for Parade of States, but that's about it.

My team (Gelinas) last year wore tie-died t shirts and a viking hat for the parade of states (the viking was our school mascot). We also had a lot of New York stuff to trade. Wisconsin always has the cheese hats and everyone always wants them. Last year I was lucky and actually traded my hat for their cheese hat. Everyone was sooo jealous and kept asking me for the hat. One person offered me a diamond necklace and another person said they would give me a watch...I still said no though!!!

I'm not a big fan of the swap meet, so I handed one of my teammates everything in my bag plus my Viking hat and said, "Knock yourself out." He stared at me like he couldn't believe I was serious. I mean, I was passing up a chance to trade for a pair of light-up antennae or something! I must have been insane!
