Deception

Post by Avis_de-Incendia »

Startling Statistics

1. 42% of adults think it is OK to lie.
2. Only 54% of lies are accurately detected.
3. 37 percent of adults think it is OK to lie about your age.
4. Two out of every three adults think it is ok to lie to avoid hurting someone else's feelings.
5. A survey found that 98 percent of teenagers lie to their parents.
6. Forty-four percent of adults will exaggerate when they tell stories to make themselves sound cooler.
7. Forty percent of adults think it is ok to lie to their kids about the trouble they got into when they were younger.
8. The average person lies about 3 times every ten minutes of conversation.

What do you guys think? Would you consider lying a society problem?

Who hasn't? I mean, things like "Oh, yeah, of course I finished my homework." I dare you to find one kid who's never done that.

Well, I'm doing a project on society problems, and I picked deception.

I kinda laughed when I saw that we lie 3 times every ten minutes of conversation. >.>

Haha, sorry, i just had to throw that false statistic out. Nothing personal, I do it every time I see a large list of statistics.

i'm with gneiss on this...i don't like those statistics, and i think lying in some situations is necessary, although many times its not something that should be done, most of the time it doesn't hurt
