Re: Where do you get funds from?
Well, our school likes a good rep and we have consistently competed down at state longer than the legends of Stevenson and New Trier so they kinda have to fund us well. Also, we kinda destroy every other SciOly team in the district/county and we are the only decent STEM club in our district. (Helps that one of our coaches is a multi-millionaire as well.JoeyC wrote:Wow, your district loves your team.

Lucky... hey have your district/sponsors send us a couple grand, too, it's sorely needed here.TheChiScientist wrote:Well, our school likes a good rep and we have consistently competed down at state longer than the legends of Stevenson and New Trier so they kinda have to fund us well. Re: Where do you get funds from?
Wow, I just posted an answer on this. (This is about the Div. B team I competed in and coach for, by the way.)
Long story short, the students have to pay for it.
I think we applied as a nonprofit, but we haven't exactly been getting any donations. We're completely unsupported by our school and district despite decent standings (continuously make top 10 at state every year), so we're not allowed to fundraise and we have to pay thousands annually just to have somewhere to practice.
All students have to pay $250 at the beginning of the year even if they're not competing, and we usually have about $80, so if you do the math, our yearly intake is $20k.
