How do you format your 1-page event pages on GOOGLE DOCS

For anything Science Olympiad-related that might not fall under a specific event or competition.

Google Docs is good for coordinating information to put on note sheets, but like a lot of people have said Word is superior in terms of freedom. If you really want to sort of simulate creating text boxes like most people do on Word, then make a table and then make the lines white so they're invisible. Make the margins really small on both the page itself and the table, and you'll have a nice grid of boxes that you can adjust the spacing of. This is what I did for a sort of temporary notesheet since I don't have access to Word on a chromebook.

I don't think I've seen this mentioned yet but I highly recommend you try Google Drawings. Go to page setup, change the dimensions to custom, put in 8.5 x 11, and the world is your oyster (at least, for this one cheat sheet.)
